The Cathedral Choirs
Come and sing with us at the Cathedral!
Music at The American Cathedral is at the heart of Parish life, making it a vibrant centre of musical activity in Paris. To coincide with the inauguration of our Cathedral building in 1886, a Choir School educated sixteen boys who sang the daily office in the manner of the great English cathedrals. We are proud of our unique Anglican music-making and have an equally proud tradition of continued music education, extending from The Trinity Junior Choir to The Parish Choir for adults. If you’re interested in sharpening your choral skills, consider auditioning for one of our ensembles.

The Parish Choir
Adult choir sing whilst processing into the Cathedral
Following the tradition in many Episcopal and Anglican churches, our voluntary liturgical parish choir plays a central role in worship at the Cathedral on Sundays, as well as during major feasts and festivals in the church year, including Christmas, Holy Week, and Easter. The cathedral strives to be one of the leading voluntary church choirs in Paris, performing a wide variety of liturgical choral repertoire.
Rehearsals: Rehearsals take place weekly on Wednesday evenings at the Cathedral.
Services: The choir usually sings for the 11 a.m. Holy Eucharist on the second, third, and fourth Sundays of each month, from la rentrée to Trinity Sunday.
We accept audition requests from high-level volunteer singers. A good level of English, as well as strong sight-reading and vocal skills, are required.
The Staff Singers
The Staff Singers of The American Cathedral are an outstanding professional ensemble, consisting of eight singers who sing at the church’s liturgies throughout the year.
As key members of our music foundation, the Staff Singers provide invaluable support to the Parish Choir, serving as section leaders during the choir term. On the first Sunday of each month, the Parish Choir has the day off, and the octet sings alone, providing an opportunity to perform more demanding music.
We are regularly seeking singers who are accomplished ensemble performers, proficient sight-readers, and who demonstrate a willingness to integrate into our unique international community.
The Director of Music is happy to hear from prospective candidates and is available for an informal chat to discuss the role in greater detail.
The Trinity Junior Choir
An Exciting New Phase in Our History
The newly formed Trinity Junior Choir is designed to offer children a unique choral education in the style of Anglican cathedrals in the UK and USA. Starting in September 2025, choristers will be provided with some of the finest traditional musical tuition available to young boys and girls aged 7-13.
Being a Chorister is a Life-Changing Experience
It is a fun and inspiring experience that provides children with a unique head start in life. Through their involvement, they develop valuable skills such as self-discipline, focus, and organization. These skills are nurtured by engaging with sacred traditions, which are visible in the beauty of the Cathedral, audible in the music and words, and present in the spiritual significance of their work.
Detailed timetables will be issued to parents at the start of each academic term, but a typical week looks like this:
Rehearsals: Weekly during term time on Sunday afternoons after Holy Eucharist, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Services: Tuesday, 6:00 p.m. Choral Evensong (approximately monthly)
It is expected that choristers and their families show a commitment to attending rehearsals and services.
