Mission & Outreach Programs

Mission and Outreach programs reflect the evolving ethos of the Cathedral: flexible, grassroots, inclusive.

The Sandwich Ministry

The Sandwich Ministry provides free healthy bag lunches and hot coffee on the steps of the Cathedral each Tuesday and Saturday at 12:30 p.m. This ministry nourishes guests and volunteers alike with much-needed food and fellowship. Volunteers help assemble, package, and distribute bagged lunches between 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

“Step Up” - Sneaker and Sock Drive

This new project of the Cathedral’s Mission and Outreach Ministry encourages people to donate new sneakers and socks which are then offered to unaccompanied refugee youth in Paris. Recently, “Step Up” provided over 90 pairs of sneakers to this outreach project. Notices of the “Step Up” campaign appear in the Cathedral notices/announcements several times a year.

“Love in a Backpack”

Beginning its life as Love-In-A-Box (LIAB), this cherished annual tradition of bringing joy to children in need at the holidays, was transformed into Love-In-A-Backpack several years ago as a way to provide useful backpacks as part of the gift. For more than twenty years, this Mission and Outreach Program has worked with schools and community partners in coordinating the preparation and distribution of gifts to numerous charities throughout France.
