In this forum, the Rev. Tom Poynor will present some of his research on the Dionysian theology of ascent of the soul and CS Lewis’s use of the image of the transformation into a dragon in the Chronicles of Narnia Book Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Through this we will touch on what it means to lose and recover the Imago Dei (Image of God). Tom currently serves as the Episcopal chaplain to UC Berkely. He is in Paris on sabbatical time to finish his dissertation on the theology of the Imagination and the Imago Dei at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. He holds a theology master’s from the University of St Andrews, in Scotland, with a focus on aesthetics, and a master’s from Oxford examining the Holy Grail in the work of Dante Rossetti.
